Description of the FPS AIRSOFT PISTON PM04CF:

FPS is proud to present the first ZERO-SHOCK piston with 100% Made in Italy carbon fiber technopolymer body and all-metal teeth.

This system patented by FPS reduces the stresses transmitted by the rack to the piston body and makes the assembly significantly more resistant and reliable than a conventional piston.

The piston material was chosen: a carbon fiber reinforced technopolymer with added elastomer, offering high mechanical performance and a very low coefficient of friction. The reinforced rack was manufactured using MIM (metal injection molding) technology, as this manufacturing process guarantees dimensional accuracy and strength equivalent to that of solid machining. The reinforced rack is presented with the second tooth missing and the third already lowered by 3 tenths of a millimeter, as this configuration predisposes the piston to a correct angle of engagement (AOE) and makes it suitable for high speeds. The injected metal is SAE 4650 + HRC38-42 hardening treatment, considered the best material on the market for this type of use. The sliding guides are designed to minimize friction and retain lubricant for a long time. The rack housing is decentralized to promote coupling between the piston teeth and those of the toothed sector. The lateral longitudinal reinforcements of the teeth increase the robustness of the piston and prevent contact of the rack with the inner wall of the cylinder. Special ribs reduce the contact surface between the spring and the internal part of the piston body, thus reducing friction between the metal and the technopolymer during contractions and elongations due to the combustion cycle.
